This year’s Moonlight Movies on the Beach series kicks off with a 30th Anniversary Screening of what is widely considered to be the best of the adventures of Kirk, Spock and crew – 1982′s Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan! 

“Do you know the Klingon proverb that tells us….revenge is a dish that is best served cold?”  In director Nicholas Meyer’s sci-fi classic, the aging crew of the USS Federation is reflecting on a long career in space, with Admiral James T. Kirk particularly resigned to the fact that this may well be the last space mission of his career.  Meanwhile, aided by his band of genetic supermen, Khan – once the ruler of an entire kingdom, now exiled on a barren wasteland, for which he blames Kirk- steals a top secret device called Project Genesis, wrests control of another Federation starship, and now passionately schemes to set a most deadly trap for his old enemy Kirk…

Did you know the Long Beach Cinematheque has been accepted as an Official Charity of this year’s Long Beach Marathon?  It's not too late to join our team!!

This means YOU can now register to run one of the most celebrated marathons in America on October 7, and in support of our organization’s ongoing efforts to foster a vibrant and eclectic film and arts scene in Long Beach! 100% of the sponsorship support you raise will be donated to the Cinematheque, and will be directly applied to our largest project to date – the 2013 Long Beach Film Festival

The Long Beach International City Bank Marathon offers participants four options – a full Marathon, half Marathon, 26.2 Bike Tour, and the popular Run Forrest Run 5K!

Run in costume! Some of our early registrants have expressed interest in running as classic cinema characters – we have a Braveheart, and quite possibly a Marilyn!  Do the 5K as Chaplin, or James Dean, or a Zombie!!  Costumes aren’t mandatory, but FUN - plus, we will have prizes for the best costumes!!
