Michael English, Executive Director of Product Development - Heartland Payment Systems
Michael English, a payments and technology expert with more than 25 years of experience in the industry, is the Executive Director of Product Development.
In this role, he is responsible for the strategic direction and development of the company’s terminal, gateway and mobile product suites, including the evaluation and integration of emerging technologies.
Prior to joining Heartland, he held several product, sales and marketing management positions at NCR and Ingenico.
Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Pittsburgh and has completed graduate programs at Emory University and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

There’s no question that mobile is the future of payments. From virtual wallets to the acceptance of card payments through mobile devices, mobile commerce presents a multitude of benefits for both merchants and consumers.
As the acceptance of mobile payments proliferates across the country — and across the globe — we can’t help but wonder if security can keep up with the rapid development of new mobile products. Without a unified platform for mobile payments, we’ll see merchants and consumers hesitant to adopt these new NFC-based technologies without a clear understanding of the safety and security parameters that will accompany these exciting new solutions.
In this presentation, Mike English, executive director of product development at Heartland Payment Systems, the sixth largest payments processor in the U.S., will explore the rapidly growing landscape of mobile payments as well as other emerging technologies that can be leveraged to secure the mobile space. From encryption and tokenization to EMV, English will address the critical role that these solutions and standards will play in securing mobile commerce.
