Families for a Better Newburgh
Town of Newburgh, NY

Open Letter to our Elected Officials and the Greater Newburgh Public

Community, it is a term that many of us who live in the Town of Newburgh define as a place of shared location, government and common interests for the safety and security of our families, friends and homes.

The Town of Newburgh Board has a clear path to protecting our Town now and for future generations by simply voting on and implementing a specific "Adult Use Zone".  This type of zoning was part of the master plan approved in 2006 costing the taxpayers over $250K to complete, and the time is now to execute that part of the plan.

We call upon Town Supervisor Wayne Booth (email), Deputy Supervisor Gil Piaquadio (email), Councilman George Woolsey (email), Councilwoman Betty Greene (email) and Councilman Ernest Bello (email) to immediately issue a moratorium on all permits, approvals and building for new and existing adult use businesses.  A moratorium will give them the necessary time to implement an "Adult Use Zone" properly and effectively.

We encourage your participation and attendance at the next Town of Newburgh, Town Board Meeting scheduled to be held on Monday, March 5th at Town Hall starting at 7:00pm.  It is our hope that our elected officials will be acting in the best interest of the families and community they serve by holding a public hearing on the negative secondary effects of "Adult Use Business" and vote on a moratorium to implement specific zoning for this type of business that adheres to common sense and moral decency.
