D33 & D34 NYC Participatory Budgeting Vote!
+$2.5 MM! Voting Period now through Sunday, April 7th |
Online voting & many onsite locations
NYC CM Stephen Levin and NYC CM Antonio Reynoso have set aside $1.5 MM & $1 MM, respectively for capital projects in District 33 and District 34, respectively - hey! that's us! Greenpoint & Williamsburg (and certain other parts of Brooklyn). And WE, the voters, will decide what capital projects will get the money. And for the first time, CM Levin has also set aside $20K for discretionary projects. Folks, it's soooo easy: the projects with the most votes, will get the $$.
This is democracy! WE GET TO DECIDE! SO PLEASE, GO ONLINE (
https://pbnyc2019.d21.me/)* OR VISIT A VOTING SITE and cast your vote for the projects in your district! Check out this great article in Go Green BK hub to learn more.
* By the way, your choice of internet browser may affect your ability to vote. Town Square found Chrome to be frustratingly glitchy while Explorer worked just fine.
WHAT ARE THE PROJECTS? You can select up to 5 capital proposals (and up to 3 expense proposals in D33). Town Square supports school projects for they are an investment in our future. In particular, Town Square asks you to vote for IS 318's project, the only District 14 Middle School project on the ballot this year. IS 318 is the largest middle school in North Brooklyn, serving over 1200 students. This amazing school is also a Title 1 school, with over 70% of their students from families below the poverty line. Please help them with your vote!
PROJECT
#6) I.S. 318, 101 Walton Street, East Williamsburg: $250K for a Renovated Library for Better Learning.
The IS 318 library is badly in need of modernization. A school of over 1200 students deserves to have a modern space to support the literacy needs of our diverse student population. A library update will allow our students to study in a more flexible, collaborative and fun spaces. Our library upgrade will allow more flexible space, increased access to technology, more power and flexible seating for collaboration and creativity.
WHO CAN VOTE?
- District 33: anyone who's 11 years or older and lives in the district.
- District 34: anyone who's 12 years or older and lives in this district.
WHEN & WHERE CAN I VOTE? Lots of places and chances. You can also vote online:
