LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By attending this activity, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the role of Interprofessional collaboration (IPC) for the development of a high-quality clinical eye and vision care system models for managing diabetes, red eyes, improves driving safety and patient’s outcome.
- Discuss the various available guidelines for the collaborative management of diabetes by eye and health care professionals.
- Discuss the organization of Diabetes care in Canada and explore the role clarifying team based, multidisciplinary approach and innovative IPC care models for the treatment of diabetic eye diseases.
- Discuss the clinical approach to the differential diagnosis of the red eye, the IPC referral protocols and strategies to improve referrals, appropriate communication and patient related outcomes.
- Discuss the medical and vision standards for driving in Canada and enumerate the role of the eye care professionals in the identification and assessment of the safe driver and the key challenges in the decision-making process.
- Using various CME methods including meet the experts’ forum and others, describe the different innovative and practical approaches to co-manage the common eye problems that present to the primary-care physician including the knowledge and skills for ophthalmic examination.
