Manufacturing Process Optimization using variable search Methodology
18 - 19 February 2016, Bangalore
In the present day scenario, we need to develop Process design experts in Organization to compete at a Global level and to meet the demands of the customers in-terms of Quality, Cost and Efficiency. These experts should have a great skill of designing processes which are Optimal in-terms of Productivity, Cost and Quality. One should never over design or under design a process.
Keeping this is view, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA) is organizing a two day programme on “Manufacturing Process Optimization using variable search Methodology” on 18 - 19 February 2016 at Bangalore. This exclusive program from IMTMA will develop the skills of Process parameter Optimization in a structured way using a Shainin methodology called “Variable Search”.
The programme will be directly applicable for optimization of - All types of metal cutting / machining, Injection moulding and Blowmoulding, Forging, Pressure die casting, Rubber moulding, Heat treatment (or) any other where the processes are predominantly parameter driven.
Focus Areas
• Introduction to DOE – variable search methodology for process parameter
optimisation
• Steps in optimisation – Planning, Analysis, Improve and Control
• Selection of Process for Characterization and Optimization
• Selection of Design parameters
• Identification of two setting levels for Design parameters
• Defining the Quality responses for monitoring
• Data gathering to check whether Quality parameters are getting affected or
not
• Calculation of D/d ratio
• Data gathering and Construction of graph to pin-point which of the
parameters are affecting the Quality
• Finding out the contribution of important parameters using Factorial analysis
• How to do Factorial analysis in Minitab software
• Building relationship between the Design parameters and the responses
• Construction of Two way data table in Excel and finding out all the Optimal
settings for validation and implementation
• Exercise on the methodology learnt
Methodology :
• Prescriptive approach will be taught on how to select process design
parameters and how to optimize them for reducing cycletime or reducing cost
without compromising on quality
• Learning through interaction on various optimization done in the following
manufacturing processes viz. Machining, Injection moulding, Pressure Die
casting, Forging and other parameter driven processes
Key Benefits :
After undergoing the programme, the participants will be able to perform -
1. Creating an internal squad of Problem design experts
2. Designing processes using scientific methodology rather than using
judgment and conducting random trials
3. Productivity improvement / Cost reduction improvement projects in the
organization
Who Should Attend :
Manufacturing Engineering, Process Design Engineers / Process Managers, Quality Engineer / Quality Manager, Production Managers, Corporate / Support Functions, Continuous Improvement engineer / Manager / Quality system implementer
Faculty :
This programme will be conducted by Mr. Ram Narayan. A Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering and a Post Graduate Diploma holder in Business Administration, Ram Narayan Graduated in 1991 from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, India. He is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt. Using Shainin DOE extensively for solving manufacturing problems for the last 23 years in various assignments, he has improved upon the techniques through the various problems solved.
Ram Narayan is active in providing training to various leading companies and has been involved in problem solving, product development, new process establishment, FMEA, implementation of various management and quality improvement systems across the manufacturing industries including Auto, Steel and Machine Tools.
Participation Fee (Non Residential - 2 days) :
