SUPER FINISHING PROCESS – Honing and its applications |
Date : 9 November 2016 |
@ BANGALORE |
|
Honing is an abrasive machining process that produces a precision surface on a metal work piece by scrubbing an abrasive stone against it along a controlled path. Honing is primarily used to improve the geometric form of a surface, but may also improve the surface texture. Super finishing creates a cross-hatch pattern on the workpiece that helps in oil retention along the surface of the bore. In today’s manufacturing environment, honing is widely used especially in the automobile industry to improve the performance and efficiency of various components.
To meet this demand, it is important to have a skilled workforce with a thorough knowledge of the honing process. Machine operators, line supervisors and engineering managers would benefit much from an in-depth knowledge of the process, the tool mechanism, the various parameters involved and the troubleshooting processes.
Keeping this in mind, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association is organizing 1 day seminar on SUPER FINISHING PROCESS – Honing and its applications on 9 November 2016 at Bangalore. This presentation will cover in detail about all the aspects of Honing.
