Olives, Grapes, Words, Trips & More...
End of Summer Greetings from Dario
|
| |
Ciao from Chianti-Siena-Tuscany! Hope you had a great summer. I want to update
you on happenings here, including ones related to RASNA (the new harvest is coming
soon!), Too Much Tuscan Wine, life in Vagliagli and more.

The Palios
|
The Palios: For the first time in a long while, I was
forced to live both the July and August Palios as a spectator, since we
Brucaioli (Caterpillars) didn’t get to race this year. That does mean, however, that in 2010 we’ll
take part in both—I can assure you
that despite our recent successes, we are all hungry and keen to continue our
winning streak.
The July Palio (Provenzano Palio) was won by the
Turtle—they triumphed with the horse that won last July and the jockey that
gave us the victory last August. The
Turtle is now together with us, Porcupine, Unicorn and Forest
as having the great success of three victories each this century.

On The Set
|
In other news, the peace in my village of Vagliagli was
interrupted for several days when it was turned into the set of a major movie— Letters to Juliet, directed by Gary
Winick and starring Amanda Seyfried, Vanessa Redgrave, Gael Garcia Bernal, and
Franco Nero. It will be released in
spring 2010, and the experience—which was quite fun—will certainly be the talk
of our little hamlet for many months.

Too Much Tuscan Wine
|
We are hopeful about announcing publishing deals in
North America—and China!—for
Too Much Tuscan Wine. It
continues to be available through www.Amazon.com,
independent bookstores including Book Soup in Los Angeles, and at www.DarioCastagno.com (where there’s
currently a special sale on the DVD My
Chianti). My fourth book—An
Osteria In Chianti—is in the process of being polished up…more news on that
shortly.
I will embark on a brief U.S.
trip to Wisconsin and Illinois during the first half of November,
when I will introduce an early taste of the 2009 organic RASNA Extra Virgrin
Olive Oil harvest, and also present Too Much Tuscan Wine. For a full listing of events, book signings, dinners,
media appearances and more, log on to: http://musicaclassicatoscana.org
My manager Laura and I will be updating you very soon
with information about the new harvest, literary strides, and future visits to
the U.S. We look forward to sharing much good news
with you.
'til then,
Dario
