Wednesday evening I was elected President of the Overseas Press Club of America, which also selected its officers and board for the next two years. The entire list of those elected last night may be found on our website.
It will be an extraordinary honor to take over leadership of this remarkable institution, now entering its 72nd year, from my esteemed predecessor Allan Dodds Frank.
I've linked here to my first President's Letter to our membership that I believe would be useful so that you may understand my goals, and the goals of our organization I am honored to lead and that will, I hope, help to define my presidency.

FINALLY, beginning October 7, I will be giving a five-part series of courses each Thursday evening at New York University called BECOMING A FOREIGN CORRESPONDENT. In it, I will be inviting each week a luminary present or former foreign correspondent or foreign editor including Seymour Topping, former foreign and managing editor of The New York Times; Mort Rosenblum, former Editor of The International Herald Tribune; Ned Parker, Baghdad bureau chief of the Los Angeles Times (the longest-serving correspondent in Baghdad); and a surprise guest from CBS News.
Sign up! It will be fun, exciting and instructive!
