German SPORTFEST Tryouts
Thursday, November 8
Calling all Students of German and all former students of German. It is that time again – SPORTFEST! Where RL Turner hosts the amazing event and competes with a winning streak. Let’s not break it. Tryouts for the root Beer Team and the Pretzel eating team will be on November 8thfrom 3:45 until 4:15 followed by a German club meeting to prepare ourselves for this wondrous and wacky event. Don’t Forget!

Trash to Treasure Fashion Show
Your challenge should you choose to accept it: To create fashion designs from recycled or repurposed materials! The fashions can be made from any items that you recycle from work, home, nature or wherever! Designers from across the district will participate in a live fashion show on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 7 p.m. at Creekview High School. Application Deadline: Feb. 28th, 2013 - Ask you teacher for a participation form or friend us on Facebook , CFB PTA Environmental, or you can email Lisa Stavinoha at environmental@cfbpta.org . We can't wait to see you on the catwalk!

Attention: Students
Get your Flu Shot Tuesday, November 6 |
All Students: Don’t let the flu get you down this season. Flu shots will be offered on Tuesday, November 6 from 3:35 to 4:30 in the cafeteria. You MUST have your parent sign the consent/eligibility form. You can pick up this form in the Main Office. Return the completed form to Nurse Hays. If you have any questions, please see the nurse.
Juniors/Seniors: ALL colleges are requiring a Meningitis shot before you can enroll. You can get this shot as well on November 6th from 3:35 – 4:30 in the cafeteria. See Nurse Hays for details.

LIBRARY CLOSED
Wednesday and Thursday Morning

The library will be closed in the mornings on Wednesday, November 7th and Thursday, November 8th. No before school time in the library.

The yearbook is now on sale!! You can pay the full $65 or split that payment. One payment of $35 is due by December 7th and a second payment of $30 is due by February 1st. See Mrs. Burton in the Main Office or Mrs. Latvatalo in B204 for more information. You may also go online to www.myyear.com and pay by credit card.
ATTENTION:
Senior picture day is Tuesday, November 6.
Attention Seniors!! If you have not already had your senior picture taken by Prestige Portraits, do not miss your chance to be in the yearbook! Prestige will be here to take photos Tuesday, November 6th, in the AMAT studio from 8 am to 4pm. Stop by some time that day to get your senior portrait taken for the yearbook. This is a FREE service and they will provide the clothes needed for the shot.

ASVAB Testing Thursday |
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test will be administered at Turner on Thursday, November 8th. This is a great opportunity to learn more about yourself, your skills, your interests, and your academic strengths. There is absolutely NO MILITARY OBLIGATION for taking this test. You don’t even have to meet with a recruiter … you will get your results from your counselor. This is a fantastic chance to take advantage of testing that is valued at approximately $600 FOR FREE! Please come by the College Center to sign up or ask questions.

ABSENCE MAKE-UPS Thursday & Saturday |
There will be absence make-ups this Thursday in the cafeteria from 4:00 – 5:30. You will be able to make up 2 absences. There is no charge. Students must have an ID badge and homework.
There will be absence make-ups this Saturday in METSA from 8:00 - 12:00. You will have the opportunity to make up 6 absences. The fee is $5.00 per absence. Students must have an ID badge and homework.

North American Computational Linguistics Olympiad Meeting

Do you like puzzles? Do you like to travel? Would you like some extra money? Then come to the first NACLO meeting (North American Computational Linguistics Olympiad) of the year. We will meet in B217 on Monday November 5th. Come either in the morning 7:45 to 8:10 or after school 3:45 to 4:10. I really look forward to seeing you there. This competition is built for those interested in any of the following – languages, engineering, math and music.

Turner Lions vs. Trinity Trojans HOME GAME

Euless Trinity Trojans better keep an eye out for the Turner Lions as we hunt them down on the field! Wear camo or safari gear to support your favorite football team on Friday, November 9th.
Tickets are on sale in the Main Office for Friday night’s home game against the Euless Trinity Trojans. Student tickets are $3 and adults are $6 cash if purchased at school. We will have the tickets until 4:00 pm Friday. This is the last game of the season, so don’t miss out on the fun!

Academic Decathlon is exploring the history, arts, literature, & economics of Russia. We’re seeking students who wish to learn and who don’t mind taking multiple choice tests or public speaking. See Mr. Hammon, Mrs. Price or Ms. Dillon for more information.

La Belle France Trip to Paris and the beaches of Normandy
Meeting November 4th!
La Belle France travelers: Our next class will be at 2:30 this Sunday, November 4TH in B109. Mrs. Burton will at the cafeteria door from 2:15 – 2:30 to let you in the building. Bring your folder to class and your passport if we still need a copy! We leave for Paris in 128 days!
New York City Theater Trip second deposits are due to Mr. Hollomon no later than November 16th. The second deposit amount is $400.00.
