Merry Christmas!
Greetings from East Africa!
It has been over 2 weeks since I left the US for this wonderful land of East Africa, where the people welcome us with genuine hospitality and are eager to hear about the Lord Jesus Christ. We have just returned from the open air market where we shared the Good News of the Gospel with many, as we shopped for supplies for our trip to South Sudan early tomorrow. Two young men - both named Walter, prayed to receive Christ as their Savior. Many others received prayer and others where trained to share the Gospel with their own family and friends.
Thank you for praying and sending hope to Africa!
Our first week in Kenya - we traveled to the beautiful island of Lamu and brought along Caroline Sarah, a widow who runs on orphanage in Dandora, near Nairobi. The orphanage is in a slum next to one of the biggest garbage dumps in Africa. The area is ruled by thugs and gangs, yet this wonderful sister in Christ rescues the needy and cares for them. We also took along Susan, a young woman who is an orphan, also from the Dandora area. She had never experienced such a beautiful place like Lamu. The Dean of Africa Hope Bible Institute was married on Lamu and is now taking his new bride on their 'honeymoon' ministry to Uganda and South Sudan with us. What a blessing to work with such committed, servants of God as we go and share the love of Christ with those who have yet to hear of Him.
We also ministered on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro, which towers about the African Rift Valley. The newest Africa Hope Bible Institute will open in Kimana, Lord willing, on February 4th. Already, many potential students have expressed an interest in attending to get a solid Biblical education. Two Massai at the cultural center received Christ when they heard the Good News. Pray for Miriam and Simon -- that they would grow in their faith and influence their tribe for Jesus. Also pray for opportunities to train Massai Pastors and plant churches across this massive area.
In Lira, Uganda - we saw our second class of graduating students celebrate their achievement with a brass band march through the streets of town and a joyful graduation ceremony. Yesterday, we held an all day workshop to help them prepare for their future ministries as Pastors, evangelists and missionaries to the surrounding countries. We are extremely pleased with the quality of students that have come to be trained and with the impact many have already had from our first graduating class in 2010. God is really using them to expand His kingdom.
Now we are heading to South Sudan -- the newest country in the world. It's a place where people have suffered terribly for decades. Business people are flooding in to make money, even bringing in drugs and prostitutes. Now is the time to plant churches, share the Gospel and train Christian leaders to teach truth.
UPDATE: The above was written in Africa but could not be completed because of no internet or extremely slow (really, really slow) internet connections. I have arrived back home in the U.S. now and can tell you that South Sudan ministry was very eye-opening. Things are changing quickly in the capital of Juba. Just a couple of years ago, their population was 250,000 --- since South Sudan gained independence , the population has surged to over 1.5 Million people. Businessmen from Uganda, Kenya and other countries are coming in to sell products, but so are those with unsavory intentions who are bringing in prostitutes, drugs and causing problems. It is critical that the Churches train their leaders to preach Biblical values and that the villages are reached with the Gospel. We have been invited to have a part in this ministry and are praying about what the Lord would like Usher In to do to help. Eight years ago -- the evil Joseph Kony actually lived in South Sudan . We saw villages where hundreds were killed by this terrorist and his soldiers. There has been much suffering, but now hope has come in the name of Jesus.
Thanks for your partnership by praying, by giving financially and by going with us to make a world of difference!
Whether we are launching schools, planting churches, ministering in schools, hospitals, prisons or the market place - together we are 'Ushering In The Kingdom of God' -- on earth as it is in Heaven. Where Christ is made known, worshipped, and people's lives are changed from the inside out. Blessings to you!

"The Lord is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all he does.
The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them.
The Lord watches over all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.
My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord.
Let every creature praise his holy name
for ever and ever."
Psalm 145:17-21 (NIV)

In the village of Nesitu-- which means 'Forgotten', the people received bread to eat and also received the Bread of Life -- Jesus. The bread will fill them for a few hours. The Bread of Life will fill them forever. He promises that all who call on the name of the Lord will be saved. He will never leave them or forsake them. Pray for Nesitu and those who received Christ as their Savior on this special day of rejoicing!

Prayer Requests
* PRAISE! Powerful 3 week mission completed to Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan. Many future opportunities to train Christian leaders, help plant Churches and to participate in city-wide outreach.
* For God to call the people He wants on the teams for 2013 India and Uganda missions.
* For Pastor Elisha of Rukungiri Community Church. He is praying for a training and equipping center for Southwestern Uganda. In addition, He has a burden to plant additional Churches to be led by faithful men he has been discipling.
* Pray for Bishop Paul, Apollo and Moses as they work to support the 17 small remote Churches in the Lomega district of South Sudan. Training of 46 men is planned for February, but much more training is needed as these men Pastor local churches.
* Pray for Pastor Jonathan Kabanda as he was hoping to visit the U.S. for some training and ministry early in 2013. His visa has been denied and he hopes to reapply soon.
* Pray for the Lord to provide the $15k needed to end this year even and for monthly supporters to join us for 2013.
*Pray for Pastor James and his wife Choice as they have a missionary Church and school in Tana River - Kenya. 30 people were killed in the area this week due to ongoing tribal tensions. Pastor James has been seeing many Muslims coming to know Jesus as their Savior and is discipling them.
Pray for God to reveal Himself with power and victory in your life as you release every part of your life to His direction and His care. He will never fail you and will greatly surprise you as you seek Him with all your heart. Remember -- 'He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him' (Hebrews 11:6) |

What Others Are Saying:
"I hope you had a nice trip back home after the hectic schedule of ministry in Kenya through Uganda and South Sudan.
I just wish to appreciate you here for the wonderful teachings you gave to us during the graduation ceremony in Lira and that one day training at the guest house. We were really packed and equipped for the great task of service to God before us.
I pray that the Lord bless you, your family and the Church family abundantly this Christmas season, and may the Lord continue to enlarge your territory as you continue to avail yourself as a vessel for Him."
Pastor Pastor Alfred Odur - Lira, Uganda
Greetings from Rukungiri and Kihihi. I will say all is well, the Lord is at work in us.
We need to to start dreaming together for next year's church plant mission to Ishaka town and the exact month it could be from your side.
I have thought of asking you, that you may share our big desire to have a Bible training center in Rukungiri. This will be helping to train church leaders from western Uganda, Rwanda, Congo , Burundi and others as we grow for his glory.
You know in this region, there is no Bible school. maybe we can be given a center if the vision stretches as far as Western Uganda.
It is just a thought. I have admired the Bible training work you did in Kenya, and Northern Uganda.
Thanks and be well for His glory.
Pastor Elisha and Rebecca - Rukungiri, Uganda
