Home Improvement Summer is an
overwhelming success!
|
|
This Summer Habitat made efforts to engage in the Parish Park neighborhood by holding eight (8) mini Rock the Block project days as a part of Home Improvement Summer. More than 148 volunteers took to the streets of Historic East Adrian and helped restore three two-story homes to their original beauty through whole house painting projects, one garage was repaired/painting/and re-shingling, and several beautification projects were completed including building accessibility ramps, cleaning gutters, yard clean up and landscaping.
Thank you to First Federal Bank, Lenawee County Realtors, New Life Ministry, and WESCO for feeding our hungry volunteers!
Thank you to Lowe’s of Adrian, UAW Ford Community Service, Thrivent Build Repairs, Kiwanis of Adrian, and Black Swamp Equipment for sponsoring materials to make the projects possible.
In just eight days, volunteers donated over 826 hours to help rebuild our community. Thank you to all of our Community Partners for making Home Improvement Summer successful: TLC Credit Union, Lowe’s Heroes, Wacker, L.I.F.E. Home School Group, Care-A-Vanners, First Presbyterian Church, Lenawee County Realtors, Key Club, Old National Bank, Neighbors of Hope, Adrian Morning Rotary, Adrian Noon Rotary, Boys & Girls Club, Civitan, and Student groups from Adrian College & Siena Heights University.

Credit Building Opportunity Available for Homeowner Applicants
Changes to mortgage laws over the last few years may have made purchasing a home more complicated, but Habitat for Humanity of Lenawee County remains committed to working with low and moderate income buyers most in need of decent affordable housing. We continue to seek applicants year-round and offer credit assistance to those who don’t immediately qualify.
Applicants denied due to credit issues will be offered the chance to review their credit report with our Housing Services Consultant at no charge. We can help find errors and create a strategy to become mortgageable. Applicants interested in more extensive credit assistance can arrange monthly meetings, get assistance in preparing dispute letters and tracking progress, and learn strategies for monitoring credit.
Many applicants who work with us on their credit issues become eligible (and choose to) purchase a home on their own. Others move forward in the Habitat program to purchase one of our newly renovated energy-efficient homes.
If you or someone you know is interested in buying a home but don’t know where to start, call our office at 517-265-6157 or visit our website at www.habitat-lenawee.org. Applications for homeownership are available on the website, in our office, or can be mailed upon request. |

Habitat ReStore celebrates 10 years in Lenawee
Habitat ReStores have been serving counties nationwide for 25 years and locally for the past 10 years. During September, the ReStore also celebrated our one year anniversary in our new location at 1025 E US 223.
During the month of November, we invite you to come in to browse our inventory and take 50% off brass and glass light fixtures, ceramic tile, bathroom and kitchen sinks.
If shopping is not in your future, please consider supporting Habitat by donating your new or gently used furniture, cabinets, appliances, or building materials. Contact the ReStore at 517-266-0746 to make arrangements for a pick up before the white flaky stuff comes knocking on our doors.
Thanks to everyone who continues to support Habitat for Humanity of Lenawee County and our ReStore.
