Habitat Partners with Land Bank & City of Adrian
The City of Adrian, the Lenawee County Land Bank Authority and Habitat for Humanity are working together in many positive ways. This great partnership led to the Blight Elimination Grant being awarded to demolish vacant, abandoned properties within the City of Adrian. Through salvage work of the Habitat ReStore, the City of Adrian and the Land Bank are partnering to reduce the amount of material sent to landfill and at the same time supporting Habitat’s housing ministry.
Items salvaged include vintage light fixtures, doors, windows, sinks, toilets, and other items like door knobs and other cabinet hardware. Depending on the condition of the property, Habitat may also complete a deeper level of deconstruction by salvaging original hardwood flooring, wall planking, tin ceilings, hard-to-find architectural trim and other historical artifacts. Materials and items salvaged from the properties are sold in at the Habitat ReStore with proceeds going to support Habitat’s work rebuilding neighborhoods in Lenawee County.
The ReStore is located at 1025 E. US Hwy 223 next to Carpet Outlet Plus. The ReStore is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 10am-5pm for those looking to shop or donate items.

Lenawee Christian Students volunteer during their J-Term
As an organization we are unable to accomplish our goals without the help of volunteer groups like Lenawee Christian School (LCS).
LCS is committed to having their students “Grow closer to Jesus Christ, Strive toward their full Potential, and Live a Life of Influence” within their community.
|
|
It is because of this vision that LCS J-Term teamed up with Habitat for Humanity for two weeks in January to donate 147 hours of construction work at our Hudson home.
During these two weeks the LCS J-Term student worked side-by-side with future Habitat Homeowner Denise “Dede” Tirb. When Dede was asked, what do you think of the LCS J-Term Group? Her response was, “They were an awesome, hard-working group of kids. They always had a positive attitude and were always ready to work. They were a great group of kids!”
LCS J-Term student, Grace, was thankful for the patience and kindness that was shown to her while working alongside Habitat staff and volunteers. She stated, “You always made us laugh, and you taught me some great skills that I will not forget!”
Thank you LCS J-Term students for Living a Life of Influence within your community!
