Gay Disney, Herby Ohio, and Mysterious Bhutan
We've got another great collection of articles from wandering book authors, this month taking on The Mouse, hitting an herbal nature reserve in Ohio, then going to a purification ceremony in Bhutan.
We're happy to welcome back Gillian Kendall and Kristin Ohlson. Plus Tony Robinson-Smith, author of Back in Six Years: a Journey Around the World, makes his debut with the Bhutan piece.
I cue up some music CDs from South Africa, Jamaica, and Chennai by way of Israel and Singapore.
See it all here: August issue of Perceptive Travel.

Three PT Writers in Best Travel Writing 2010
We don't have any stories in this year's Best Travel Writing anthology like we did from the publisher's Best Women's Travel Writing one, but three of our contributors are in there.
So, congratulations to Richard Sterling, Jeff Greenwald, and Amy Greimann Carlson.
Speaking of such, I have a new book out called Travel Writing 2.0: Earning money from your travels in the new media landscape. You get my advice, but also bits of wisdom from around 70 writers, editors, and publishers. It's just now getting into the system for international sales, but you can get it in the U.S. or in e-book form right now from this link: Travel Writing 2.0
And a reminder---we have a great blog with a new post six days a week and we're on Facebook:

Win an Eco-friendly Hat From Brazil
Congrats to Renato L. of Italy and Rick F. of North Carolina who scored their choice of any Perceptive Travel t-shirt from our Cafe Press store. As they have learned, the odds of winning our contests are quite good: there are some 1,200 people on this newsletter list, but only a tiny fraction of the readers enter. So....
If you're in the U.S. or Canada, you can win a great travel hat made from recycled Brazilian truck tarps, from Real Deal Brazil. How cool is that? See the home page for a picture or follow that link to check out all the styles.
To enter, send the answers to these three questions and your physical address to editor@perceptivetravel.com (or just reply to this newsletter). ALL answers are in the current issue.
1) How much can a dried wild ginseng root sell for?
2) What is the other name for Guru Rinpoche?
3) Where does Justin Hinds hail from?
The contest is open through August 30, but enter before you forget!

Thanks for your support--keep spreading the word!
