Uruguayan Drummers, Crumbling Caribbean, and Biking to Vineyards & Brewpubs
We've got another great collection of articles from wandering book authors, this month hitting all three sections of the America. First up, Darrin DuFord returns from his recent Solas Awards win to look deeply into the street drumming scene in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Richard Arghiris debuts here with a not-so-sunny story on the sunny Caribbean coast city of Bluefields, Nicaragua.
I take on the tough task of biking from brewpub to winery to brewpub on an off-road biking trail through Missouri.
Susan Griffith returns to review some notable travel books with big questions to answer. Laurence Mitchell again cues up some new world music collections that are worth checking out.
See it all here: July issue of Perceptive Travel.

Once a month we put out some stellar travel stories and reviews, but it doesn't stop there. We also have five great writers putting up equally offbeat and intriguing travel blog posts on a regular basis.
But don't take our word for it. We just had one entry make the finalists list in Creative Non-fiction's Travel Narrative blog contest. Then contributor Alison Stein Wellner was a panelist at the Travel Blog Exchange conference this past week with Don George, David Farley, and World Hum's Jim Benning. Sheila Scarborough was on a panel with the head honcho of BootsnAll, with Johnny Jet, and Nomadic Matt. 'Nuff said!

Win a Cool Perceptive Travel Shirt!
First up, congrats to William W. of Arkansas who scored a $200 shopping spree from Tilley Endurables! That's enough to get him a lifetime warranty travel hat, some travel underwear, performance socks, and more. He took an essential step most of you 1,200 subscribers didn't---he entered.
In time for the dog days of August, this month two subscribers who do take that step will pick their choice of short sleeve Perceptive Travel T-shirts. We can ship to anywhere serviced by Cafe Press on this one, so don't hold back you non-North-Americans.
To enter, send the answers to these three questions and your physical address to editor@perceptivetravel.com (or just reply to this newsletter).
1) When did a hurricane starting with J slam into Bluefields, Nicaragua?
2) What river does the Katy Trail follow?
3) What are the drum parades called during Carnival in Uruguay?
The contest is open through July 30, but enter before you forget!
