Voices from the dead, aliens on Earth, and motorcycle taxis
The new issue of Perceptive Travel is out now. We promise another set of travel stories to delight and intrigue.
I'm happy to welcome back longtime guidebook author, food writer, and resident of Vietnam...Richard Sterling. He's got a tale about Saigon, trust, and the importance of small change. David Lee Drotar is back from a strange walled city to the north and thinks he may have encountered aliens. Rachel Dickinson tries to reach out to the dead and feels like every spiritualist in training can do so, but she can't get her long-dead grandpa to say hello.
If you haven't heard about David Farley's new book about the search for Jesus' foreskin, check out my review on the blog. Meanwhile, he reviews two books for us this month, only one having to do with dead saints' body parts. I got on a roll and checked out five new world music CDs. See it all here: September issue of Perceptive Travel.

Could you use a few hundred extra songs preloaded on a player?
Thanks to everyone who entered the contest to score the two silver Wallet Pens we gave away last month. The winners were Gillian from Victoria, Australia and Sara from Massachusetts, USA.
This month we're giving away something else I've used and liked: the Sansa slotRadio MP3 player. This is no lame iPod wannabe, though it does clip onto your clothes like a Shuffle. What it is though is a small MP3 player that's preloaded with songs in different genres and the display shows what's playing. To change music, you just buy a new microSD card. It also has a radio, which I was jamming on in Belize last month with mine. See the home page for a picture, a product link, and a review for more info.
To win, answer the following correctly.
1) About how much is 50,000 dong worth?
2) What's a clairsentinent?
3) Who wrote The Billionaire's Vinegar?
Remember, the answers are easily found in this month's issue and your odds of winning are better than you probably think! Send your answers and physical mailing address to editor@perceptivetravel.com or just reply to this newsletter.
