Learning Objectives
At the end of this learning activity the learners will be able to:
- Formulate an approach to the assessment of mental health needs of specific patient populations.
- Develop a comprehensive treatment plan using a biopsychosocial care model, which comprises of a variety of therapeutic strategies, including pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy.
- Be familiar with the latest practice guidelines specific to the clinical management of mental health concerns throughout the lifespan.
- Provide patients with local, and online resources specific to mental health concerns.
- Know when to refer for a specialty or tertiary care assessment.
- Identify the occupational hazards inherent in health care professions, and ways to minimize risk and access help.
- Appreciate that the provision of excellent mental health care requires a multidisciplinary effort, whenever possible.
