4 MODERNIST SCULPTORS
virtual adult lecture with JIM ZINGARELLI
3-wks, Friday, 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM, 8/6 − 8/20, $65
In this art history class, we will examine the work of 4 modernist sculptors over the course of 3 online zoom classes. We'll begin with Constantin Brancusi (early 20th century), move on to Barbara Hepworth (mid-century), Marisol (late midcentury), and finally Martin Puryear (late 20th-early 21st century). In each case, we'll explore the evolving nature of modernist sculpture (referencing other sculptors as well), each working within both traditional and new methods & materials, and the context in which their work unfolded. The class will conclude with a brief look at Jim Zingarelli's sculptural work, which has been influenced by a modernist aesthetic and, more particularly, by all of these sculptors. |

Rendering the face is possible with just a few tricks and techniques. If you have always wanted to learn how to draw the human face with real systems and step by step processes that don't feel esoteric, join me! Students will provide their own materials. |
