The main prize winners this year included students Sinead Collier (1st Place TY), Our Lady's College, Greenhills, Drogheda, Co. Louth and Brianne Murphy (3rd Place LCE), St. John Bosco Community College, Kildysart, Co. Clare, pictured below with Ireland's new Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton TD.
Minister Bruton honoured us by participating in his first official photographs as newly appointed Minister for Education and Skills, at the National Career Skills Competition Awards Ceremony, which took place on Tuesday 10th May at The Clock Tower at the Department of Education and Skills in Dublin City Centre.
1st Place in LCE/LCA/LCVP category went to Jessica Hanan, Sacred Heart Secondary School, Drogheda, Co. Louth, with 1st Place Gaeilge going to Sarah Hannan from Gael Cholaiste Luimnigh. 1st Place in the new Adult Learner FET category went to Dean Kavanagh from Tallaght Adult Education Centre.

A new website has been developed by the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) to provide more information to young people who are interested in working in the construction sector. The website will also advertise current apprenticeship vacancies from its members.

Apprenticeship Microsite outlining details for applicants and employers on the new innovative Accounting Technician Apprenticeship now being offered.

Nearly 40 organisations ranging from large consultancy firms to smaller accountancy practices and SMEs have committed to taking on apprentices as part of the first intake in the Republic of Ireland, on this ‘earn as you learn’ accountancy programme.

T he recruitment process for Garda Trainee is ongoing, with Interviews currently being conducted.
The Minister for Justice and Equality has approved a further three intakes of 150 Garda Trainees into Templemore during 2016.

The Irish Defence Forces will see 1,450 personnel enlisted by next year - 600 general service personnel in 2016 and a further 850 in 2017.
The campaign will specifically target increased female recruitment and also continue with outreach initiatives, which seeks to engage with minority communities and new citizens.
The current General Services Recruitment Campaign for the Army and the Navy closes for applications on Sunday 22nd May 2016.

Confey College, Kildare were announced as the overall winning team at the 2016 CanSat National Final and will now go on to represent Ireland at the European final which takes place in Portugal from the 22 to 26 June 2016. A CanSat is a simulation of a real satellite in the size and shape of a soft drink can and is a European Space Agency initiative designed to inspire young people to pursue a career in the STEM fields.

Users will now be able to manage their appointments diary and calendar online.

Students and GCs will now be able to print a summary of the key portfolio items undertaken.
