The 2020 Melbourne Cup has been run and won. I hope you had an opportunity to enjoy the ‘race that stops the nation’ and had a win in a sweep!
For many of us, the Melbourne Cup traditionally signals the start of the silly season. November and December are a combination of finalising work, catch ups and Christmas parties… a lot of Christmas parties.
While much has changed this year, I hope that Christmas parties and other end of year 'get togethers' are not a casualty of the times. More than ever, now is a time to get together, blow off some steam and have some fun.
And if you are short of numbers, I’m always available!!
The other big news of course was the RBA doing what they said they wouldn't, by dropping the official interest rate from 0.25% to 0.10%. A $100 billion stimulus program was also announced on Tuesday. Holy smoke!!
They expect a rocky road, so these two initiatives are welcome.
With interest rates this low and being low for a while now, it’s hard to remember a time when it was any different. I came across this 1980’s TV commercial for Aussie Bonds that features some famous names, a catchy jingle and an amazing interest rate!
It might be a very long time before we see that again.
Finally, wetalkmoney has been in the news a little over the last month or so. We talk about Superfund ratings, tax cuts and organising your Estate Plans.
