A Sweet Fragrance
|
|
"Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. But this fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved and by those who are perishing. 16 To those who are perishing, we are a dreadful smell of death and doom. But to those who are being saved, we are a life-giving perfume. And who is adequate for such a task as this?"
~ 2 Corinthians 2:15-17
Anyone who knows me well, knows how much I really love coffee. I love everything about it; the taste, the smell...aah, that smell! It's almost captivating. Even now, several decades later, I can well remember, as a child, the aroma of the brewing pot of coffee my mom was making for her and dad to sip before he headed off to the office. There's something special about the smell of brewing coffee.
It just so happens, I have a friend who lives in Tennessee who has permanently installed a commercial coffee brewer in his master bathroom that automatically measures whole beans, freshly grinds them and then brews a pot of coffee each morning at 6am, just for the smell. Get this; he doesn't drink coffee. He can't stand the taste. BUT, he loves the aroma! Interesting, huh?
That reminds me of how when we live like Jesus, the apostle Paul wrote to the church at Corinth that our lives rise to God the Father as
a sweet smelling fragrance. He loves it! Paul goes on to tell us that this fragrance has a different effect on other Believers as it does on the lost. It's perceived as either life or death.
The fact is that as we walk with Jesus and obey His commandments, even the fragrance of our lives changes the very atmosphere of the rooms we walk into. We can't help but affect the spiritual atmosphere of everywhere we go. It's almost like the law of physics that states, "
for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction." That should excite you. God has given each of us a level of authority and influence in His kingdom that continues to grow as we grow in our intimacy with Jesus.
So I challenge you to walk boldly and be filled with the Holy Spirit as we continue to spread the gospel of Jesus and increase God's kingdom!

We only have three more
Youth Alphameetings here at Grace. The goal of it all is to see young people exposed to the gospel of Jesus and discipled in their walk with God. So please continue to pray for the harvest!
If you know a young person who you love and you want to meet Jesus and/or grow in their walk with Him, bring tomorrow evening at 6:00. We'll have supper together, watch a video and follow up with a discussion. |

We're excited about the start of another Grace Group starting this Sunday afternoon, May 20th at 6:00pm in the Julington Creek area. This will be held every other Sunday at Mike & Carole Flodin's house and co-hosted with Billy & Debbie Richards.
For those on the westside of town (i.e. Oakleaf, Orange Park, Bent Creek), join us when we meet again for Grace Group in our home this Friday, May 18th at 6:30pm.
What's a
Grace Group? Good question! It's all about fellowship, eating together, sharing each other's lives, praying for each other and seeing growth. We want to have you join us!
Click the button below to email us for addresses or directions to either home and come be a part!
