But a child conceived under any circumstances is still a child of God. Abortion after incest often serves to hide the abuse, and allow it to continue. In the case of a fatal diagnosis, wouldn’t it be better to know that your child died from a physical problem rather than to know that he or she was killed by your decision? The assumption that ending a pregnancy will somehow minimize trauma is simply false.
The vast majority of rape victims who proceed with an abortion, often at the urging of family members, come to deeply regret that choice. The majority said it only caused additional problems. But that is also a false expectation. Parents who continue their pregnancy treasure the time they had to spend with their child, to love them, hold them, and accept them as a member of their family. 97.5% of such parents expressed no regret for their decision.
