March of 2022, ACOG published a language guide that claimed to be “without bias” yet does not necessarily reflect scientific truth. For example, the term “medication” implies that an illness is being treated and there is a therapeutic benefit, yet ACOG stresses the use of “medication abortion”. They reject “chemical abortion” Because that term makes the procedure “sound scarier than the safe, effective medical intervention it is.“ (3) They claim that “cardiac activity” is more clinically accurate than “heartbeat” even after 8 weeks (3), when the four chambers, while not fully developed, are readily identifiable (4). The developing organ has been contracting regularly to circulate blood since 6 weeks gestation or 4 weeks after conception.
ACOG also states that “Medication abortion ‘reversal’ is not supported by science.” (5) Not supported by science? Bioidentical progesterone (“the hormone of pregnancy”) has been used since the 1960’s to prevent miscarriage. Since mifepristone, the first abortion pill, acts to block the action of progesterone, administration of the hormone has been used to rescue the pregnancy after the first pill has been taken. The success rate is about 64 – 68% if the procedure is begun within 72 hours of taking mifepristone. (6) Over 4500 children are alive and well today from the use of the Abortion Pill Reversal protocol. (7)
