Education: If you were a woman who deeply regrated your abortion, what would you want to ask a former abortion provider? Have you wondered how abortionists could do what they did, and what caused them to stop? Live Action has made a series of videos called “Face to Face” in which these questions are answered. All participants have gone through a healing process and have become pro-life.
One post-abortive woman asked, “Did you know it was a baby?” “Absolutely. But I. didn’t. care.” It was only after he lost a young daughter than he began to see the babies as someone’s son or daughter. One doctor talked about how he could deliver a baby in one room and then somehow flip a switch to go down the hall and do an abortion. Doctors knew about the trauma experienced by women, but ignored it. One doctor read an article comparing abortion to the Holocaust, and suddenly saw herself as a mass murderer. She realized that she was not considering the babies to be human, even though she knew they were. She also described how the abortion procedure was like an assembly line. She would come into the room where the patient was ready, do the procedure, then go on the next room. The doctors expressed their desire for forgiveness from the women.
Women recalled how devastated they were when they discovered the truth of the baby’s development. They expressed their anger that the doctor had deceived them by not telling them or allowing them to see the ultrasound. One woman expressed how much more difficult it was to have a pill abortion, compared to her earlier surgical abortions, and how she struggled with alcoholism and suicidal thoughts. They wanted to tell other post-abortive women that there was hope, healing, and forgiveness. The first step was to admit the truth, which is very painful, but worth it to begin the process of healing. Both sides thanked the others for what they were now doing help women to choose life.
