Annual Fund
Our fiscal year fruns from 1 August through 31 July, this means that our budget is resetting this week. The total we need for current operations is $43,759. That equals $3,646 per month. This amount is for the care of the herd. All other project funds are raised separately.
Four of our herd have full sponsors. Four additional donors make monthly contributions. The remainder of funds are generally from one time or infrequent donors. Although we do apply for grants, many are months waiting on a determination and the selection process is very competitive.
The herd needs you! Please consider a monthly gift, all donations are tax deductible and greatfully acknowledged.
We welcome organizational and major gifts. Contact us today to make arrangements.

Herd Shelters
Unfortunately all six shelters needs to be replaced in the pastures. We have been pricing from several outlets and the lowest cost we have found is $2,397 per shelter, with volunteer labor doing the installation. The shelters are a must for our herd since there are very few trees in the pastures to provide any shade, weather, or wind relief. Please support this need for our herd. |

Building a New Pasture
We are expanding to provide better pasture management for our herd. This project materials has been funded, now we just need to clean up several acres of trees so that the fence can be installed and the herd members can safely move. If you'd like to volunteer, please sign up today!
Georgia requires at least one acre per horse but unless hay is fed year round each horse needs at least two acres each. We are full in our current pastures so need this additional space. |

Shady went on a trail ride this Spring. Shady moved well and proved that he is more than capable of being a trail horse, he went through water puddles and climbed a small dirt hill with minimal direction. He will always be a fast mover and require an advanced intermediate or advanced rider. |
|
|
Hiawasse went on a separate trail ride, his first since arrival to the rescue. He lead, followed, and provided an overall well mannered experience. We believe he needs a lot of wet saddle blankets in his future but will be an asset to any intermediate rider. |
|
|
Josie arrived to us ill mannered with minimal training. Consistent handling has turned her into a horse we can definitely be proud of. She has not been tested off property yet and currently requires an advanced intermediate to advanced rider. She needs more wet saddle pads in her future, with a kind but constant hand. |

Cheney arrived at the end of May in hopes that we could provide improved quality of life. Cheney had a severe case of lymphangitis. Unfortunately Cheney's body gave out long before his will and he crossed the Rainbow Bridge 28 June. Even though he was only with us a short time he is greatly missed. He was a big teddy bear that loved to interact with the humans around him. |

Nick has had a bout with bilateral pnuemonia during July. After his course of medications thankfully he was cleared for light exercise by Dr. Myran. |

Knox is our largest resident and comes with his own special needs. Because he has feathers around his hooves it is sometimes difficult to keep flies away and Summer sores from starting. |
