CT Solar Lease

Why am I receiving this message?

When you signed up for the Solar Dividends program as part of your CT Solar Lease, you agreed to be contacted via email.

As a participant in the CT Solar Lease Program, you agreed to participate in our Solar Dividends program. Solar Dividends represent a portion of the value CT Solar Leasing generates from the sale of Renewable Energy Certificates (REC). A REC is created for every 1,000 kilowatt hours of electric generation from your solar system. You agreed to submit a meter reading from your solar system at the end of each quarter.

When CT Solar Leasing sells REC's, it puts an amount based on the generation of your solar system, aside for your future use. You can use your Solar Dividends for future costs associated with your solar system. Further details are contained in the Terms and Conditions which are posted on the mysolardividends.com Website.

The success of the Solar Dividends program relies on each participant to do their part and enter a meter reading at the end of each quarter. Failure to do so will result in a loss of value in your Solar Dividends account.

In order to keep administrative costs low and provide you with more Solar Dividends, we will use e-mail as the primary tool for communicating with customers. You will receive at least one e-mail each quarter. Please do not remove your e-mail address from this list as it will require us to spend unnecessary time and expense to contact you via other means. Those costs will be charged against your Solar Dividends account balance.

Quarterly Meter Reading Due Now!

The quarterly meter reading from your solar system is due on or before December 20, 2010. If your system is not installed and operating, please ignore this reminder. Please go online today and enter a meter reading. As the deadline approaches, we will be sending out additional e-mail reminders and phone messages. To avoid these reminders, enter a reading early in the month and remember that entering a reading today will not affect your ability to enter another reading later in the month.

Locus remote monitoring customers are required to enter their meter readings via the Website until notification is received that automated meter readings have commenced. We expect to begin automated meter readings in March of 2011.

Meter readings will continue to be due during each of the four Reporting Months at the end of each quarter. These months are March, June, September and December and will be called "Reporting Months". Importantly, at least one meter reading is due no later than the 20th of each Reporting Month. You may enter additional readings until the end of the Reporting Month but at least one reading must be entered on or before the 20th.

Instructions on how to access the Website were sent to you by postal mail. Please go to www.mysolardividends.com or datareadings.com and enter the username you were assigned along with the password. Your username should be your e-mail address where this notice was sent. If you have a problem logging in, click on the link next to the login box and someone will get back to. If your e-mail address has changed, please notify us at support@tier1generation.com.

Other Methods To Report Your Meter Reading

If you prefer not to utilize the website to enter your meter reading, there are several alternatives available.

Meter readings may be sent via e-mail to meter_readings@tier1generation.com Please be sure to include your full name; the meter reading; date that you took the reading; and the full physical address where the system is located. Please attach a digital photo of the meter if possible.

Meter readings may also be submitted to the Solar Dividends voice mailbox by calling 610-971-9500 and pressing extension 810. Please leave the information requested in the message.

Meter readings may also be sent by regular mail to Solar Dividends, C/O Gary Kleiman, 244 Chamounix Circle, Saint Davids, PA 19087. Please include all of the information requested for an e-mail submission so we can properly identify you and your system.

Solar Dividends Program Update

Customers with valid generation entered through December 2009 can now see a Solar Dividends balance on their manual input screen.

Renewable energy credits are categorized in Connecticut with vintages based on the calendar year that the associated solar electricity was generated. Thus, CT Solar is currently accumulating credits with a 2010 vintage. CT Solar has sold all of its credits with a 2009 vintage.

While CT Solar could sell credits as often as it wants, the demand for credits is typically higher towards the end of the current vintage calendar year and into the second quarter of the following year. Entities which are required to buy credits for compliance purposes have until approximately the middle of June of the following year to procure the credits they require for the past vintage year. Thus, credits with a 2010 vintage may be sold up until approximately June 15 of 2011. It is likely that CT Solar's sale of credits will take place after the end of each vintage year.

The market for renewable energy credits in Connecticut continues to be soft during the recession. There has been increased supply from new generation (such as the CT Solar Lease Program) and weaker demand as electricity sales by the utilities has slowed due to the economy. CT Solar monitors pricing and opportunities to sell credits on an ongoing basis.

CT Solar appreciates the fact that the vast majority of our customers are fulfillling their obligation to get meter readings into the system on a timely basis. This helps to keep administrative costs low. As the final systems in the program are installed over the next few months, we look forward to implementing automated meter readings for those with the Locus remote monitoring and further streamlining the program.
