We already have a strong lineup of presentations for spring 2025, including these:
On January 10, we’ll start our spring “semester” with a presentation by Laura Little, a member of Senior Scholars. Laura will pull back the curtain on theater production, such as the various parties involved in bringing a production from idea to reality.
Dr. Mary Jo McGowan of UNC Charlotte, who gave a presentation in October 2023 in anticipation of the 2024 election, will review the 2024 election from the perspective of election integrity on January 17.
Our third presenter, on January 24, Dr. Valerie Reynolds of UNC Charlotte, will review the history and significance of mining in North Carolina. She will give us an overview of the history of mining in this state, from the search for gold and other minerals and the continuing importance of the mining industry for North Carolina’s – and this country’s – continued industrial progress.
Information about other, forthcoming presentations, planned field trips, the Lunch Bunch and our annual three-day retreat at the Wildacres Center in Little Switzerland, can be found on our website.
We’ll also update you on all that through our e-mails each week.
I think you’ll find that Senior Scholars offers considerable value for the annual renewal fee ($25) for our members. If you think of other information or programs we might offer, you can suggest that or, even better, get directly involved as a volunteer and bring your ideas to life.
