Greetings Senior Scholars members!
Hello again Senior Scholars. This Friday, January 10, we’ll start our spring “semester” when Laura Little, a member of Senior Scholars, will give us insights into how a theater production proceeds from initial idea through to a staged production. |

|
In our previous e-mail, we described the two presentations that we’ve scheduled to follow Laura’s talk.
Here are the two that will follow those: On January 31, we’ll hear an informative and entertaining presentation by Dr. Jeff Thomas of Queens University about communication, problem solving and intelligence in the aviary population. If you’ve ever used “birdbrain” as a pejorative, Dr. Thomas’s talk might cause you to rethink using the term in that way.
Keren Zhu of Davidson College will address us on February 7 about relations between the United States and China. That relationship looms large in international affairs and its future holds great significance in respect of commercial matters, global security and military operations, among other topics.
Information about coming presentations, field trips that we plan, the schedule of Lunch Bunch opportunities and information about our annual three-day retreat at the Wildacres Center in Little
Switzerland, can be found on our website. We’ll also update you on all that through our e-mails each week.
I think you’ll find that Senior Scholars offers considerable value for the annual renewal fee ($25) for our members. If you think of other information or programs we might offer, you can suggest that or, even better, get directly involved as a volunteer and bring your ideas to life. Don’t forget that you’ll need to have your 2025 membership card to attend our meetings starting this Friday.
