Advising Employees in the Wake of COVID-19 –
Emergency Paid Sick Leave, Unemployment Rights and More!
This seminar is designed to provide a working
knowledge of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) and
employee rights under the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act (EPSLA) and the
Emergency Family Medical Leave Act (EFMLA), including their interplay with the
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA),
Minnesota Whistleblower Act (MWA) and other existing employment laws. This
seminar includes an overview of new Minnesota unemployment rights related to
COVID-19.
In addition to new legislation and the relevant acts, presenters will cover
these crucial hypotheticals:
-
The employee who does not believe they work
in a "critical sector" and would like to be excused from work or work
remotely
-
The rights of employees who raise
COVID-19-related safety issues at work
-
The rights of disabled employees who seek
accommodations as a result of COVID-19
-
The rights of workers who seek leave because
of a family member's health condition and need to self-quarantine
Three experienced employment lawyers will help you
understand the basic workings of the statutes, the more complex issues that
arise under these new laws, and practical tips and strategies for ensuring
compliance with the new laws.
