The WAN IFRA India 2011 Conference and Expo, the second largest in the world for trends and practices in newspaper printing and publishing starts tomorrow (6 September) at the Chennai Trade and Convention Centre and will be on till 8 September. Co-sponsored by the Indian Newspaper Society, highlights of the event include three parallel summits on printing, newsroom and cross media, and the expo dealing with newspaper printing, circulation and more. Visitors to WAN IFRA can meet Naresh Khanna, Gyan Prakash, Sashi Nair and S Vasan from IPP at Stand 1.605 and pick a copy of the WAN IFRA Special issue of
IPP featuring the 50 fastest growing newspapers in India. Extracts from the same issue in this newsletter include articles by Sashi Nair on the Tamil newspaper industry, and Naresh Khanna’s articles on the latest installations at the
Mathrubhumi,
Dina Thanthi and
Dinamalar plants.
As
Deccan Herald plans a Delhi edition, drupa has a new president in Bernhard Schreier. Ricoh launches its demo centre in Delhi, as International Mailroom Machines introduces a new poly wrapping system. The recipients of the 2011 Intertech Awards have been declared, as the books shortlisted for The Hindu Literary Prize are going to be announced at Lit for Life starting 25 September.
