The 2014-15 financial year saw significant capacity growth in the monocarton industry with about 16 brand new packaging configuration presses imported. However, although folding cartons volume grew, price realization remained under pressure. Lon Rollinson, president, MWV India Paper Board Packaging, said in an interview to
Packaging South Asia, “We are excited about the many opportunities that will be possible when MWV and Rock-Tenn merge sometime in the second quarter. Until that time, we are operating as two separate companies and don’t have any comment at this point about our combined capabilities — including any impact on our business in India.”

A new Canadean report predicts that packaged water will overtake global carbonates consumption, reaching over 233 billion litres in 2015, while carbonates are expected to grow at a slower pace to around 227 billion litres.
