Michelman has introduced the latest addition to its line of HP-recommended DigiPrime digital press primers. Water-based DigiPrime 680 is formulated for use with the HP Indigo WS6X00 series of digital presses and is particularly effective for flexible packaging printing applications.
Clariant has announced the opening of a new desiccant manufacturing plant at its site in Zhengjiang, China. Clariant will produce its line of Container Dri II products alongside a full range of desiccant bags at the new facility, extending its existing regional support for the Asian market.
A further softening of global GDP and rising competition within the liquid food packaging sector made 2014 a challenging year for Tetra Pak. Despite this, the company achieved net sales of Euro10.9 billion, up 1.7% from 2013, with strong growth in capital equipment and technical sales helping to offset a disappointing year for packaging material.
The present government in its budget of last May and in this February’s budget for 2015-16, announced several measures to help the farmer, the consumer as well as the food processing and packaging industries. These include measures both fiscal as well as monetary that will reduce duties and finance the growth of industries in several identified sectors. Read here.

Iggesund Paperboard’s Swedish pulp and paperboard production facility, Iggesund Mill, reduced its fossil carbon dioxide emissions by 86% from 2013 to 2014 from what was already a low level. The reduction is partly due to the investment in a new recovery boiler, which was completed in 2012.
