Wednesday was International Migrants Day! This gives us a special opportunity to shine a spotlight on the invaluable contributions of millions of migrants around the world.
From Tax-filer data, the City of Hamilton had the largest net migration for core working age individuals, or those aged 25-44, with a net migration count of over 23,000.
In-migration exceeded out-migration in Hamilton, with a total net migration count of 36,727.
Compared to the time period of 2016-2022, the City of Hamilton experienced more net-migration into the region, spearheaded by increases to the core-working age group.

The federal and provincial government invested over $1.9M to help build 24 affordable homes in Hamilton.
The Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario announced a combined investment of over $1.9 million through the Canada–Ontario Community Housing Initiative (COCHI) to help build 24 affordable homes in Hamilton. This investment adds to the federal government’s previously announced investments to build and repair over 12,750 homes in Hamilton.
