At the centre of wellbeing is mental health. With this said, in any given year, 1 in 5 Canadians experiences a mental illness.
Youths (15-24) are more likely to experience mental illness than any other age group. From the most recent Mental Health and Access to Care Survey (MHACS), the prevalence of mental disorders among Ontario youths has increased by almost 14% from 2012 to 2022, above the trend for the general population (+6.3%). |

Health Care Occupation-specific Language Training |
|
|
|
Mohawk College offers OSLT - Communicating in the Health Care Sector — a free online course for newcomers with experience as nurses.Course dates: February 10 to March 23 (6 weeks)
Online lessons: Wednesdays, 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm (first class on February 12)
What participants learn: explore relevant cultural concepts and how to adapt communication to suit your purposes. improve skills for gathering and sharing information in the workplace make presentations in the workplace context use the telephone and email effectively
Who can apply? Applications from individuals who meet ALL the following are welcome:
Live in Ontario and have experience from Canada or another country as nurses, and Are permanent residents of Canada, protected persons (with Notice of Decision), Ukrainian temporary residents or their dependants in Canada (until March 31, 2025), or temporary residents affected by the crisis in Gaza (showing “MOME2023” in status documentation until March 31, 2027), and Have benchmarks at level 6 to 8 from the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) assessment done through an official assessment centre in Ontario.

The Xperience Annex is excited to announce a new training program offered by Turkstra Lumber in partnership with the City of Hamilton.
This training program, for individuals aged 18-29, will allow participants to gain experience in the building materials and supplies industry, which will include hands-on training in truss and panel manufacturing. Training will include health and safety, First Aid and Working at Heights.
The Program will start March 3th with a screening date on February 4th.
