in a test tube with donor eggs and donor sperm from anonymous donors, and perhaps even carried in the womb of a surrogate mother. They may even have been conceived years before their legal parents were born (and kept in frozen storage before being adopted). IVF is all about providing a couple (including homosexual couples) or a single person with a child. The rights of the child are forgotten.
The fact is that children created with IVF are not treated with the respect that every human person deserves. They are created in a process that knowingly results in the creation of many more embryos that will ever be born. Some will die in the test tube or be discarded because they don’t look healthy, some will be transferred to a uterus but not survive to implant, others will be frozen and stored indefinitely. It is estimated that there are over a million embryos currently in storage in the United States. While it has been recognized that children who have been adopted have the right to information about their birth parents, no such rights exist for IVF children in regard to identity of sperm or egg donors, or their medical history. An alternative solution to infertility is NaProTechnology, which works with the natural reproductive system. NaProTechnology is safer and less expensive than IVF. A short video is available (2) to explain how it works.
