Education: Live Action representatives went out on the street to interview folks on camera. They started with a simple question: “Do you believe people with disabilities should have the same human rights as people without disabilities?” Everyone said yes. With more questions, they established that people with disabilities should not be denied live-saving care, or terminated without their |

consent, so that they are not a burden to everyone around them.
Then they extend the questions to whether women should have the option of abortion of unborn children diagnosed with a disability. Now the pro-choice people started to be conflicted. They stated their viewpoint that a woman should have the right to choose, but were reluctant to say yes. Comments were made about the child suffering, about it being “tricky”, “an ethical dilemma”..the option of foster care was mentioned as a good outcome. Can the family support that baby? Additional questions such as “Would you say that about people already living with disability ? Or if a family says we can’t support this 10-yr old.. ”Good point. I would say – buckle it up” or foster care would be an option. Do you think we should kill people without their consent who are currently suffering? –The interviewers also asked them to guess what % of people who have been diagnosed with a disability like downs, spina bifida, or trisomies, are aborted after the mother received that diagnosis. Guesses ranged from 10% to 50%; they generally surprised or shocked to hear that is usually between 60 – 92%.
One comment: “That’s got me thinking today.”

Prayer: Dear Lord, please give all pro-choice individuals the opportunity to hear convincing logic to support the pro-life view. Lead those who are pro-life to see opportunities to have a fruitful conversation about the morality of abortion with their friends or fellow workers. Inspire them with the best words to use, and help them to remain calm and friendly in their approach. Open the hearts of those who believe that women “have the right to choose” to listen and hear the logic that leads to recognizing the child as a human being with the same right to life as other people. |
